Re: Hurricane Sandy - How is everybody?
Still no power/water/heat here... and I'm in Ohio . Seriously. All the smaller trees around my place were either knocked over or torn up outright, and stuff is smashed everywhere. I live on the lake, where wind tends to be stronger, but it's still unreal that a hurricane like that could reach the mi...

I never really got the whole pony thing, but I'm happy to see that you're still creating, Jenny! If you think that you're done with fan-fiction, do you think you might be returning to other personal projects in the future? :3

Re: The Legend of Korra, a sequel to Avatar: The Last Airben
Agreed on every level. I absolutely adore the new series. The thing that I loved about the original was that they took care to create multiple, consistent and complete cultures. They've taken that to its next logical progression and evolved each culture by 80 years, incorporating new technologies, n...

Re: We lost Hitchens
It's the "no atheists in foxholes" argument. The crux of it is that a person will change their opinions under duress. Even assuming that it's the case universally (which it clearly isn't), it still proves nothing in regard to whether the changed opinions are or are not correct. As for why ...

Wild... can the pieces move through the center bast on the lines moving through it? Or is the center simply a dead zone? I'm so used to the basis of all strategies focusing on the controlling the center 4 spaces of a board... I wouldn't even know where to begin with this one.

It seems like there's thankfully little on the 'net claiming that he had a last minute death bed conversion, which was something he was very concerned about (given that pretty much every prominent atheist supposedly has one, according to urban rumors that pop up immediately after their deaths). He w...

Re: Why I am not part of the My Little Pony herd yet
Jenny, I read through a couple of the stories you posted. Really well written, but... ahh... is that really your view of humanity right now? The air of hopelessness you seem to inject into them is palpable, and it seems to kind of hinge on the theme of human beings are utterly and irredeemably evil ...

Re: Skyrim Blatant
Object creation in general (including enchanting objects) is much, much friendlier in Skyrim than it had been in previous Elder Scrolls games. Although I'm not a big fan of the menu design in the game in general, I'm very happy that they've made those elements of the game less of a chore.

Still around. I poke my head in every now and then to see if things are getting more lovely here or there's been any kind of forum revival. It's been a while since they were jumping, but I remember enough good conversation here that I always hope maybe something has started up here that would kick s...

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Ultimately, though, I do tend to think that there is nothing special about any species, including Man, that cannot be explained as just another evolutionary adaptation that increases survival, and increased survival is pretty much synonymous with decreased pain. Livin' good is Livin' easy. In short...

Re: So... Wall street protests.
Does it matter whether they're making an intelligent point or not? It seems to me that the issue here is that the police are abusing authority in general and the protesters in particular. Even assuming that the protesters have no point whatsoever, they're still doing nothing wrong.

Honestly, I think that more activity and interaction would work in your favor. The more connected you are and the more you're interacting in a significant way (which is to say, friending in a pattern that matches those you've friended, rather than simply friending all connections that you're able to...

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed it, then ^^(). Also, given that Luna escaped after 1000 years... it kind of seems like her imprisonment was originally just going to be for all time. Which again. Seems kinda harsh.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic
Watched the first couple of episodes then two random other ones and I simply cannot see the appeal. It seems like a fairly high quality, decently funny kids' show, but that's pretty much it for me. And on top of that, I'm kind of hung on on something from the first two episodes. Celestia strikes me ...

I really like the idea of this, but they'll have to push it really hard. Facebook's usefulness doesn't come from its features or its games for me (both of which are pretty meh as far as I'm concerned). Its usefulness comes from the fact that everyone uses it. You don't ask someone "Do you have ...

Re: What I think About (1) Extraterrestrials
Really interesting post, I'm happy to see something along these lines pop up on the boards again :3. But the big question is: why are all of these aliens (with only a few, notable exceptions) more or less humanoid? Tall or short, metallic or fleshy, heavy or thin, they all have two legs, two arms, o...
