Thank you!
It's been a good year so far, including a few weeks ago my opening of a 12 year old timecapsule - and beginning preparation of a new one - to be sealed for opening in 2039! ...and now I'm thinking about posting more generally about that here, to invite contributions

Re: re-reading Unicorn Jelly, telling it to twitter
I'm drawing near to the end of my tweeting re-read... it's been so good to revisit, but I remain saddened at the loss of the original forums, from which so many discussion threads were had for each and every new strip...

Re: The Old Forum Archive
I went looking for the original forums today. A bunch of nostalgia brought about by my reading of UJ. I've never warmed to web forums in general - this is the only one I've ever become regular on. It felt like home. The oldforums did anyway, where I had thousands of posts... Archive.org has some ind...

Re: re-reading Unicorn Jelly, telling it to twitter
Thanks! :) You seem to be pretty active here - but noone else is? Even Jennifer hasn't logged in in a couple of months by the looks! I hope she's OK. I'm afraid your name doesn't ring any bells for me either - are you newer to the forums than I (I was very active on the previous version, but that se...

re-reading Unicorn Jelly, telling it to twitter
I mentioned last year (here: SPAM.unicornjelly.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=3045 ) that I planned a re-read of UJ. I wanted to give it proper consideration and force myself to not read it TOO fast - so I didn't rush into it. I finally began a few weeks ago - starting 16 years after it originally beg...

Re: Been away three years... to the day
I fear that the only real solution to spam is an active forum... and by and large, the heyday of internet forums such as this are long gone, replaced with the facebook, twitter, reddit and other similar large community sites of which small communities such as this end up just being a part. Not that ...

Been away three years... to the day
If I'd waited 17 more minutes, it would have been three years, to the minute, between visits. :explode: http://house.cx/~nemo/tmp/aec5d6700fc880c9.png Far too long. it's a little sad to see the spam on some of the forums here too :/ I'm aiming to celebrate UJ's 15th birthday by reading it again, at ...

Wic - that certainly was the inspiration :) I revive this thread because I've updated the circlestyle board with new improved! http://wiki.thorx.net/mediawiki/images/1/1d/Taasen_clock_board.png ...and also created PDFs of both this and traditional style. http://wiki.thorx.net/wiki/File:Taasen_board_...

Taasen - Nakimono Industries Special Edition Board?
I have been playing Taasen a little bit recently, and I recently discovered a variant of the Taasen board that I believe dates back to the heady days of Myrmil! I think it's an alternate board layout created by some engineers of Nakimono Industries in commemoration of the advent of the Trato-Yauroni...

Re: Taasen Question
I made a taasen set, and brought it to a coffee shop, and ran into a problem: Say the white paupil and the green paupil are destroyed. Then the red thaum is undestroyable. If the objective in the game is to destroy all of your opponents pieces, is the first person to destroy two pieces in this mann...

Re: Taasen Pool.
 Does the basic idea hold water? More importantly, does the pool table hold water? Maybe a water hazard would be more interesting than a penalty system. That sounds like a level of fun, but spillage onto the felt could be an issue... (advanced felt substitute perhaps?) How would you implemen...

Taasen Pool.
I had me a little brainwave earlier today, and have spent a bunch of the day nutting this out in my head, and then on my site, so here it is: >> http://www.thorx.net/wiki/TaasenPool It's an idea for a game being a hybrid of Taasen and Pool. You play on a Taasen-like table, but aim to sink all your o...

Re: playing with fractals
(2) Although a cube has square faces, its vertex figure is a triangle . A "vertex figure" is what you get if you slice off a corner. Take a regular six-sided die and turn it so you're looking straight down at a corner. Three edges and three faces meet there, so if you slice it you get a t...

I just couldn't resist posting this little gem... What do you get if you take a cube, and apply a koch-snowflake fractal algorithm to it... :?: ...something a little unexpected to me, but wondrously familiar. http://www.bridgesmathart.org/art-exhibits/jmm08/fathauerkac.html ^v^ A few other cool nift...

Re: Salutations!
If there's to be a meetup, I propose that it occur in Washington, and in July 2009. Gives a year and a few months to plan, and Washington is home to enough forumites (and a Creatrix) to make it a natural hub. Plus my cousin is up around there, so there's that. Solar Eclipses or no, Washington is a ...

RSS feed
Hi! THe new forums are way way shiny, but I'd love an RSS feed to them - there appears to be a phpbb3 mod in this thread: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=70&t=761035&p=4281995 (it's very new, and there may be others) For my tastes, RSS feeds are a boon to my ability to partici...
