Why did you have to go releasing new content for Portal? Do you hate my productivity that much?
I'm already halfway through the achievement...

Just checked Steam and I see nothing... where can I celebrate my consumer instincts and purchase this new content?

It's the March 1st update to Portal.

The Enrichment Center is now full of radios that pipe in Still Alive as background music and power an achievement in a fashion that I shall be deliberately cryptic about.

Speculation at the moment is that this is some kind of sequel hook. More determined people than me have extracted all kinds of information from the achievement progress data.

I'm most of the way there. Some of these are just plain vicious. Also, I have classes. And homework. And tests. @,@

Going to have to put this off, possibly until the weekend.

It's a free update, so you already have it. Just play Portal and see.

Whoa WHOA WhoA wHOA

Where did that new stuff in the ending come from? :explode:

For anyone who hasn't played before, "Thank you for assuming the party escort submission position." is new. And mind-breaking, at least to me. At least we've got more of a sequel hook than just... radios.

I'm imagining a lemmings-esque game where you have to get a small group of people through a dangerous maze via portals. Perhaps each NPC has a different specialty. So you might have to figure out how to get the Soldier into room A to kill the aliens while getting the injured Techie out of room B before he dies so that the Doctor (currently stuck in an infinite loop) can heal him. Or something like that.

It sounds like a lot of fun!

Well, the implication when GLaDOS first said it was that it is a position, which you get in, to submit, to the party escort, except that when she says it, I don't look for creepy double entendres, possibly involving giant cakes. ... :boggled:

Anyway, the sound files are apparently named "dinosaur[number]". If it turns out that the sequel involves a gun that somehow uses dinosaurs as projectiles I will be a happy M-headed thing that needs some input from someone competent with texturing.

Let's look for more meanings! Perhaps it is a political party and arghNONONONONONO.

Also, I'm not done with the achievement, but I'd like to point out that these later radio placements? Pure evil.

It IS the Party Escort Submission Position. GLaDOS's order to "Place the device on the floor and lie on your stomach with your arms at your sides" is followed by Chell under one of two conditions: Dying, or winning. When you die, you reload your save before the Party Escort arrives. Now, for some reason, it's already present when you arrive on the surface and assume the position.
