LittleBigPlanet Levels being Deleted

Postby Relee » Sun Nov 09, 2008 3:32 pm

User-made levels in LittleBigPlanet are being arbitrarily deleted with no warning or explanation. And that's "Deleted" not, "Removed From Distribution", they're actively deleting your local copy of any levels that the LBP owners find objectionable. Most of the popular levels from the beta have already been permenantly deleted apparently, and they're aggressively getting rid of anything that mimics another game or includes copyrighted media at all. So, that R-Type thing is probably going to be gone fast, if it's not gone already, and anything else you love or care about will be crushed under the unforgiving knitted heel of your sackboy masters.

The users have complained ferociously, however the LBP owners have stated that no matter how pissed their user base gets, they're not going to change this policy. So, sucks to be you.

Little Little Planet, or Perhaps "Tiny copyrighted planet."

Way to kill the best game the PS3 has ever had...

The ONLY game that has ever made me wish to own a ps3.

This last insult has almost killed the game for me. I just can't abide this crap. I don't even play it anymore. Bastards, for ruining such a wonderful thing.

Good FUCK, even Spore never deleted your local content. Is that even legal? Could that be considered invasive hacking, given the data the PS3 is capable of storing?

I bet they have a terms of service agreement that allows them to remove a kidney from you if they need it or if they happen to be hungry.

I hate censorship of any form, and considering all these deletions, I decided to simply not purchase this product.

Good choice. You should also consider sending the company an email explaining why you didn't buy.

Emails don't usually work, they're too easy to ignore and impersonal.

You should send An Angry Letter.

It isn't all censorship.

Deleting objectional levels, yes, censorship.

Deleting stuff that mimics other games, legally bound. In the ToS, unless changed, LBP's creators claim ownership over anything you make. So in other words, thinks like that R-type level and Super Mario level have to be deleted or the ToS has to be changed or LBP's creators are breaking copyright law themselves by effectively forcibly stealing your ideas.

Wrong, yes, but a jaguar and a lion are not the same thing.

When you are expecting a cute fluffy kitten that will forever love you, and find a half starved, feral animal that has been abused by its captors? Wrong.... yes, was wrong. More like misdirected anger you better not be near.
