From my knowledge of hominid anatomy and inelastic collisions, it would appear that Zoey is doing the wanting in that picture.

What would you think of an opposing-force variant of this game? I've seen concept art for it and a series of comics illustrating a prelude, from which a straightforward story arc could be inferred.

If anyone's interested, I'll try to re-locate the rest of the stuff.

I would be interested to see it.

I once toyed with writing a zombie novel where the main character via experimental Cancer meds retained his sentience after
becoming a zombie himself. The story would involve his life and times in Class 4+ Outbreak world. Hiding his Identity/nature from
other survivors by wearing all leather biking gear/armor, with a Motorcycle Helmet. One of the things I wanted to cover in it
where the abnormal abilities, advantages and disadvantages from being one of the living dead. For Example The main character
would never sleep, and would have to find ways to deal with the time and avert madness from the boredom.
Also other zombies would not attack him aggressively until he took some kind of Hostile action around them. When he is wounded, the wounds would not heal. In time enough structural damage would render him a sentient pile of meats. I toyed around with the idea of him being able to eat human flesh and slowly regenerate poorly and in a horridly scarred and patchwork fashion.

One of the things that I would have liked to happen in the story would be for the main character to save a younger child, 10-15 age range, and bring him Back to his safehouse, where he would nurse them back to health, and the child would eventually discover his undead nature, flee the safe house, and have to be re-rescued.

Stories would come from him helping various survivor enclaves, doing the best he can. Yerning for human contact,
but afraid if they discover his undead nature they would shun or kill him.

His Internal struggle would stem from having accepted his inevitable death at the hands of cancer, and then surviving in to a half life where
he is faced with a possible eternity of loneliness.

What do you think? A nice twist on a Zombie Apocalypse tale?

P.S. One of my sweethearts drew this for me based on the above.

Here is one, and here are the rest.

I am also drawing inspiration from this storyline, and the first half of Resident Evil 4.

Essentially, it would be a prequel to Left4Dead. The "special infected" as playable in versus mode would be the main characters, but the objective, rather than hunting down and slaughtering the four survivors, would be to evade a torches-and-pictchforks mob and the supporting SWAT team while searching for and rescuing the Witch.

The SWAT team would, of course, have diversified roles:
Sniper with high-powered but slow-firing rifle,
CQB specialist with submachine gun and tonfas,
Riot-control with heavy sheild, tear gas, and signal flares,
Demolitions with shotgun and breaching charges.
maybe some kind of immobilizing/barrier-building foam in there somewhere.

Of course, the Witch is far from a typical helpless hostage; her grief and rage drive her to attack the uninfected on sight, and she will continue to attack ferociously until slain. So, it's not enough to keep her away from the mob; you have to keep her from even noticing it.

In any given level, the Infected's goal is to save the Witch and make it to a safe-house with minimal loss of life. Any rioters left wounded but mobile at the end of one level will join you at the start of the next level as regular infected; more corpses left behind increases the tactical cleverness of the rioters and the level of force that the SWAT team is willing to use against you, from tranquilizer darts and rubber bullets, to live ammo and knives, to grenades and incendiaries, to finally issuing an order to evacuate and calling in an airstrike.

I take back anything bad I've ever said about this game in this forum or in real life. Even the magic pistols. I don't know what demo I played, but it wasn't nearly as compelling as the game last night. Was it the two real-life co-op partners? Was it the last desperate push to the helicopter on the roof? Was it the three failed desperate pushes to the helicopter?

No, it was the level with a Witch somewhere in the first half, always audible but elusive, forbidding both gunfire and flashlights. We heard her from the safe room.

Stephen and I have been playing splitscreen two-player coop on my 360 lately, and whenever we hear that sobbing in the distance we go 'shit!' and suddenly the scenario changes - where before we were a zombie-slaying superhero team whose only real threat (beyond just being swarmed) was that damn tank - now we are as children in a wood where lives a really hungry bear.

Or perhaps the witch is more like the latest drop in Danger UXB. There are no wires to accidentally cut, but the sense of dread is palpable, and just as we pass the witch, and our A.I. teammates haven't startled her this time, that's the precise moment that a boomer vomits all over us, the hoard begins swarming, and that damn smoker has me by the tongue and I can't see a thing and everyone is shooting blindly and suddenly we hear the sound of an enraged woman standing up....

Good times.

It's that my homunculus inside my head doesn't even try to understand the outside world. He thinks it's a video game and smashes the buttons at random to find the key where you shoot the lasers.
