Eversion

Postby Relee » Sat Jan 17, 2009 3:38 pm

I tried Eversion yesterday. Geez, creepy game. A little buggy too. The latest version didn't work at all on my computer. I played version 1.4 up to almost the end of level 7, when the game crashed. Level 7 is pretty brutal and I had almost cleared it entirely, so I don't particularly want to go through it again. Maybe one day. You have infinite lives and the game has respawn points scattered through the levels. You can restart from any level you've gotten to if you quit the game, but I'd have to start level 7 from the beginning. XD

You can try it if you want by downloading it from here. If you're curious, Eversion is a real word, and it's used accurately. You can Evert (Everse) at places where the music is different, and the colour changes a bit, if you're having trouble figuring out what to do.

Gameplay-wise it's loosely based on the original Super Mario Bros; the first level is designed a bit like World 1-1. You shouldn't play it if you're epileptic or have a severe anxiety disorder, though. I won't spoil anything but it is a horror game, no matter what the first level looks like.

Here's a screen shot, linked from their page. You collect those gems, some of them are inside blocks, Mario style. Just jump up and hit the block and the gem comes out. I only say that in case any of you have never played Super Mario Bros. or seen the first level.

I can't decide if I want to play this or if it would give me the screaming heebie-jeebies, or both.

Wait... is this gonna be a Mario variant on the Maze Game...?

Because if it is, I'm SO forwarding it to everybody I know... I haven't come home to a mailbox full of "You're/Your evil" emails since I laid off the rickrolling.

Everse is really a triumph of gaming. I adore it without bound.

If you're reading this and you haven't played, go play it now because OMG, this game totally has:

Hey, this game is REALLY GOOD. It runs really well on my PC too, which is a bonus. I hate downloading something only to find that "Your PC does not meet minimum requirements to run this game," etc. :?
I got stuck a little bit playing Level 7. I managed to get into a space where I couldn't escape, and it took a few tries before I worked out where all the Eversion points were. Then I had to keep playing the same steps over and over because I kept dying... :cry: {Oh, and I also found the secret 8th level too, after I reloaded.}

I concur - go and download it immediately. It's not a very long game, but it will keep you occupied for an afternoon, easily.
If this last post seems ridiculous, please disregard it. Thank you. ;)

I love this game, but it always crashes on me after playing it for 20 minutes.

That's weird, I didn't have any problems running this at all... but my PC isn't high-end.

I have the same problem
It's that my homunculus inside my head doesn't even try to understand the outside world. He thinks it's a video game and smashes the buttons at random to find the key where you shoot the lasers.

Be sure that if the latest version isn't working for you, you try the next version. They should be both listed on the front page.
