My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

If it's something you watch or hear or read, this is the general grab-bag for it.

[Comes out of her Lurking Corner to find the soapbox temporarily unoccupied. Occupies same]

Ahem.

I love the living fuck outta this show. So do my kids, both male and female.

I have made many pony images with the Pony Creator on DeviantArt.

I am planning a fid that uses "Last Friday Night" [Anyone know where I can get uncaptioned screen caps of the show?]

I am writing two crossover fanfics simultaneously. Neither are at a point where I would release them to the wild ;)

I am still on the fence visavis the toys. I like to pose my toys. Make little dioramas or pretend I can actually do stop-motion animation [I was, and still am, a weird kid]. The ones I have seen so far are static.

That, and the Princess Celestia they've released is pink. PINK! Do they pay no attention at all to their own character designs? Fury...

I love that there's a universe where three separate races [four if you count two known alicorns] of all the colours of the rainbow can live together and sort out their differences over cakes and ginger ale ;) I love that you can even overcome monsters with love and kindness. And the occasional prank.

We need more of that in our sad, weird, selfish world.

[Runs for cover]

Oh, you TEASE us, Jennifer! You start this story off with each chapter being a more-or-less self-contained story, and then you start ending them with enough stuff unresolved to make us beg for more!

Celestia and Luna as faerie princesses... That feels right somehow. And "Dr. Charon"... Somewhere, somewhen, I'm going to steal that name.

I also like how Dr. Pastern became a recurring character. It lends continuity and connection, and a familiar face, that the stories would otherwise have been missing.

Even if it's a quirk of evolution (and I do agree there), I still think that's pretty special.

However, even this is only a matter of degree; other species are able to figure out other, less complex things, and there are still plenty of complex things that no human has yet figured out.

Okay, so I am a blind and slow little turtle. and despite hearing of this thread offhand I actually had some trouble finding it. Because it will take me forever to respond properly, and probably be forum gravedigging by then, I am going to respond improperly so as to add my two cents.

I have not seen this show yet. I'm sure it's probably pretty great, from the way people- and in particular which people- go on about it, Jennifer and Dan Shive included. The premise sounds interesting enough, the art looks nice at least in screenshots, and I'm sure it's probably a very nice show.

I wrote a huge post about why not here, but it was so huge it would've been derailment in this thread so I moved it over there.

The pony-relevant part is, I will probably read Jennifer's fanfiction sometime sooner or later because I am definitely curious about that, but it will be a long time before I watch the show proper. Sorry!

Also, I may or may not decide to start a Let's Play of Terraria with a Rainbow Dash character (i.e. female character, entire color scheme Rainbow Dash blue, plus Clown Hat and Angel Wings. The wings do make it a LITTLE on the cheaty side for starting with a starting character, but let's face it, I don't like falling damage, and even when human and in a mining game, Dash has GOT to have her wings) within the coming months. It hinges on a) having enough time among all my other commitments, b) work neither crushing me nor flitting away entirely once again, and c) figuring out an efficient way to edit video and record from my headset mic via Fraps or similar.

I have now everything poni but ponysona. I need to draw the line somewhere.

Now when we're at it, HOW DO YOU SHADE!?

I have lost all the knowledge on shading I learnt from boring math glasses. Or maybe I need to listen to something boring. Is there any tutorials?

I really didn't follow the pony discussion very intensive,
So I was wondering what a ponysona is, (remember, me german, me not understand full american thinkings).

...this is what I found.
You can also download the flash thing (SWF) from this page, then you need the adobe flash player.
Read the help file to export your pony.

yes, it's a little bit photoshopped

Hm, na gut, the next step would be to draw it without any help.

There is a regular over on Equestria Daily who goes by the name of Octavia. I wonder if Octavia is a member here as well.

Na schön, however to have the link once or twice or more can't be bad.

I wonder if these pony adventures will ever be broadcast in Germany.
Maybe I didn't recognize it until now.

Found...

So and what channel at TV??
Still searching...
Aha, Wikipedia says: it's the german Nickelodeon.

After reading through this thread a few weeks ago, an itch formed. Not to see the show* but because it reminded me of something. Then today I remembered!

Who was it that modded a pony and made it a Chou-pony? I cannot find evidence of it anywhere, and I know darn well I saw it. I had the pictures saved on a previous hard-drive-crashed computer, and might have them even now on one of these external backup drives. (only about 4 TB to go through, shouldn't take more than a couple weeks...)

* Bandwidth limitations at home, and no channels with the show. I'll download them from a friend's place and see what the fuss is about.
