You Are A Terrorist!

Maybe this is more something for the media section.
But it shows how wonderful Germany gets the problem of terrorism under controll.
America can learn from Germany, again.

It's the same thing as it is everywhere, the same game.
Overviewing anyone and everything, to protect the people.
The price is: freedom.
That's in Germany, in Great Britain, in the USA, etc...
So in Germany there is a discussion to block websites, in this matter paedophile websites, good idea, ahm, but if you get by chance to this stop sign (shown in the clip) you are under suspect.
Also there is also a chance that the german police can use a trojan software to spy into your computer, if terrorist or not
Don't worry, a court must say yes at first...
Indeed 1984 is 25 years ago, and still on the top.

And to justify that terrorists are among us, they sometimes create their own idiots
Remember the 4 terrorists the FBI has arrested about a week ago?
Read "The Times"
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/w ... 350389.ece
...“Did they really need all those men in ninja suits with M16 rifles to arrest four idiots?” wondered Kindlon, a former marine sergeant whose main concern is that real terrorists may be plotting undisturbed while domestic US agencies focus on fantasists. “Somewhere, someone in Al-Qaeda must be laughing.”...

'Stupidest man on the planet', says sister of James Cromitie, alleged would-be Bronx terrorist
Some terrorists.

The four fools who conspired to blow up two Bronx synagogues in the name of Allah were booze-swilling losers who hung out at a Roman Catholic community center in upstate Newburgh.

"Amateurs," Bloomberg said Friday. "That doesn't mean they couldn't have killed a lot of people. But they were not part of a professional worldwide terrorist ring."

The alleged ringleader was 44-year-old James Cromitie, a career crook from the Bronx who converted to Islam while in jail.

His big sister, Wanda Walker, called him "the stupidest man on the planet."

"I'm still waiting for the punchline," Walker, 45, said yesterday. "This is a like a joke to me. I'm waiting for the camera to come out of the closet and say, 'This is Candid Camera.'"

His cohorts are David Williams, 28, a former chef who also did time for drug dealing; Onta Williams, 32; and Haitian immigrant Lagueere Payen, deemed too insane to be deported after an assault conviction.

Both Williamses spent a lot of time hanging around on Cromitie's porch in Newburgh. Neighbors said they routinely barbecued and boozed it up even though devout Muslims shun alcohol and pork.

Another haunt for the gang: the Newburgh Ministry, a Catholic shelter open to people of all faiths.

"Those four would come into our ministry and sit down and drink coffee on a regular basis," said a source.

"They never caused trouble. They just sat and drank their coffee and talked. Maybe they were plotting?"

Ah, the freedom of the western world!
We do not have laws based on a majority religion oppressing those not of the faith (like, stopping people to marry who ever they want), for once. We also do have freedom of speech, we can say whatever we want about the state and the world and not have to worry about anything, like being under surveillance and having some of our rights denied...
It's so good when there is such a clear line between good and evil, isn't it?

This sort of thing cuts both ways, unfortunately. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Janet_Napolitano#Right-wing_extremism_memo_controversy

Right-wing extremism memo controversy

Napolitano was the subject of controversy after a Department of Homeland Security threat assessment report initiated during the administration of George W. Bush, entitled "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment," was made public in April 2009. The report indicated several factors, including the election of the first black or mixed race President in the person of Barack Obama, perceived future gun control measures, illegal immigration, the economic downturn beginning in 2008, and disgruntled military veterans' possible vulnerability to recruitment efforts by extremist groups as risk factors for rightwing extremism.

On April 16, 2009, the Thomas More Law Center, a conservative Christian public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, filed suit against DHS on behalf of radio talk show host and political commentator Michael Savage, executive director of the Center for Bio-Ethical Reform Gregg Cunningham, and Iraqi War Marine veteran Kevin Murray. Savage stated that the document "encourages law enforcement officers throughout the nation to target and report citizens to federal officials as suspicious rightwing extremists and potential terrorists because of their political beliefs."

Napolitano made multiple apologies for any offense veterans groups had taken at the reference to veterans in the assessment, and promised to meet with those groups to discuss the issue. The Department of Homeland Security admitted a "breakdown in an internal process" by ignoring objections by the Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties to an unnamed portion of the document.

While the American Legion reportedly criticized the assessment, Glen M. Gardner Jr., the national commander of the 2.2 million-member Veterans of Foreign Wars, defended it generally, saying it "should have been worded differently" but served a vital purpose. "A government that does not assess internal and external security threats would be negligent of a critical public responsibility," he said in a statement.

Napolitano had to back down and repudiate that. That assessment was complete balderdash of course; the best you could say about it was that it was irrationally out of proportion. But it's still disturbing to me that citizens of this country, and in particular veterans coming back from Iraq, must now wonder if they've got a cloud suspicion over their heads, marking them as potential "right-wing extremists," if they simply happen to disagree politically with the current left-wing zealotry that has swept Washington -- and especially if they decide to get politically active about it. The fact that this was initiated during Bush says to me that either (1) Bush was a complete moron (heh, well, you won't get any argument from me, but maybe not for the reasons you think); or (2) we've got a case of government-bureaucracy tautology syndrome here. (Probably a combination of both.)

"Government-bureaucracy tautology syndrome" is based on the observation that government bureaucracies (regardless of the policies of their originators) tend to get staffed by people with a vested interest in growing the size and power of government (thus ensuring their own jobs). And since everybody wants to believe their own work is worthwhile, such people also tend to be true believers in big government as the solution (as opposed to being a major contributor) to all problems. In other words, almost by definition, they tend to be liberals naturally prejudiced to view conservatism as somehow suspect.

Folks, even if you happen to be on the liberal end of the spectrum yourself, if you have any pretense of being civil libertarians, you should look on this development with alarm.

Actually that memo shouldn't worry you at all. Think about it, they've identified a possible threat, one that has attacked government buildings in recent memory, The Oklahoma City bombing. They've identified a possible group that may be recruited, disgruntled veterans. Timothy McVeigh was a disgruntled veteran.

If there is another right wing terrorist attack, people will ask where the law enforcement was when it was planned. This is law enforcement doing it job: Keeping people from killing eachother.

This memo isn't the story, the real story is that almost every president since Roosevelt has been shot at, or someone got caught trying to kill him. Ford even survived two attempts in a month! The real story is the militia movements that drilled in Michigan. The real story is the the right wing, in some cases fascist and nazi, subculture that really exists in the US.

Right wing extremists are as dangerous as Al Qaeda, remember that.

And, there's the green extremists who torch SUV's, the religious extremists who shoot gays, the left wing extremists who fantasize about knocking off a Brinks Truck... There are ALOT of crazies out there! The right is making a fair amount of noise, so yes it's high on the radar.

Thanks for at least being ecumenical in your sentiments about crazies of all sorts.

Ah, well there's the problem right there. Why should someone be "high on the radar" of law-enforcement simply because they are "making a fair amount of noise" -- in other words, expressing political dissent? I'll grant that the memo did concern itself with actual extremist groups with a history of violence and racial hatred. The trouble is that it went on to suggest that extremists might recruit from "groups devoted to single issues", such as gun rights, anti-abortion, border security, or anyone advocating reduction in the size of government. That's a pretty broad brush and quite chilling. Note that the Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties squawked about the problems with the memo before it was released, but Napolitano and her staff ignored them. Napolitano blamed it on a "breakdown in the internal process", which is bureaucrat-speak for "it didn't matter enough to us to pay attention." From that, it's not hard to infer a bias (unconscious or otherwise) against conservative viewpoints. "Why, we don't need to worry about their civil liberties -- they're conservatives!"

Suppose the shoe were on the other foot. What if, in the middle of the Bush administration, Homeland Security had put out a memo warning about the potential for left-wing extremist groups with a history of violence to recruit from "single-issue groups" like anti-Iraq War, anti-globalization, pro-choice, GLBT rights, green advocacy, voter suppression, and so forth? Would there not have been cries of "fascism!" and "guilt by association!" and "a chilling effect on free-speech!" If I tried to gently reassure you that, well, you know, there really were some whackos like Bill Ayers who bombed stuff back during the Vietnam War, and isn't it nice that Homeland Security is doing its job, keeping you safe by making sure the cops keep an eye on any groups even vaguely associated with them? Would you feel reassured?

Agreed; the problem is not right-wing people nor left-wing people, but fanatics and extremists of all stripes.
