Yes, of course it should be allowed. All love is valid, in my opinion (and not even just in pairs, though I think that part goes without saying...). Seriously. I'm (very very painfully slowly) working on a story that's largely about that, even. That, and rainbow lightsabers. And dolphins.
I don't think that guy was really trolling, though. I think he was being serious. I also think he seems like kind of an asshat though.

So the morality is: "sex for reproducing."
"Love" is a not allowed concept.
