Bwahahaha, most excellent!

It had me searching below and above for some kind of explanation before I noticed the date ...

Um... I didn't. At the time.

My little Yahoo Widget calendar is funky; any days over 29 are -apparently- shown in the upper left corner of the month, and not at the beginning of the next month, and I never noticed. So I thought I had checked and double checked and had the date right. Oh what merriment at my foolishness at the dinner table that night!

Stephen later showed me how that kind of calendar works, and I was chagrined. I was more chagrined when he reminded me of the '30 days has September' rhyme, followed by the 'knuckle trick' of using the hand to mark the months with extra days.

Head hung in shame, I did the only reasonable thing and resolved that 'I meant to do that', and this way people would actually see the comic, since nobody would be checking on Wednesday anymore, and further, that it was surely part of the joke that I would call Monday as April the first, which it isn't.

I will atone for my calendrical sins on Friday, where I shall offer a double helping of comic to make up for both my incalendracy, and my feeble Fool's Day humor.

With all the strange things going on in my skull, surely keeping track of the ludicrous complexities of earth chronometry should not be demanded of me? I've got weirdness to attend to, I can't be expected to have to fiddle about with these 'month' things.

At first I was like "NOOO! KAYEEEEEE! IT WUZ SUPPOZED TO BE KAY AND OLDMAN FOREVER" and then I came here and logged on and ZOMG WHAT.

Yes, that was pretty amusing, paradox, and what not.

I check TSH by having the last strip bookmarked, so I can refresh myself on that strip before clicking "next" and seeing the latest strip. This time when I hovered my mouse over the link I noticed the "1337" and thought, "cool, strip #1337!" Then I realized that the last strip was 336.

It was like a "WTF?" preparing me for the "WTF!!" of today's strip before even clicking it. #_@

Oh, Jennifer, you're much too hard on yourself! Your established schedule is to publish TSH on Moon Day and Freya's Day. Period. So of course this strip would come out today. To have done otherwise would have been to spoil the surprise.

On the other hand, there's nothing to say that a dated publication actually has to get distributed on the exact publication date stamped on the cover. Just about every weekly and monthly publication I know of actually ships out days or even weeks ahead of the official date. So if you had put out the comic today, but labeled it "Odin's Day, April 1, 2009", that would have been perfectly legitimate.

However, it was much more perfect that you made a mistake. See, once I got the joke (and Relee too, I bet), I felt the irresistible urge to find some way to help other folks get it too, without actually giving it all away. Kind of a metaphorical elbow to the ribs, if you will. And this little flub was just the excuse I needed. It was a golden opportunity for me to put on a feigned (and somewhat farcical) pose of testy pedantry, which would draw people's attention to look at the date, without being too obvious. It would actually have been a bit more awkward to contrive that if you had been ultra precise.

Happenstance can be a beautiful thing, it's all what you make of it...

Speaking of which, Your Eminence, do you have any comment for the press on your recent promotion from priest to cardinal?

Like Mr. Mon' said, it doesn't matter that you got the actual day wrong. Since you only post strips on Monday and Friday, Monday's strip is therefore technically good for Wednesday anyway. Think of it this way - the joke was so good, you even managed to fool yourself!
If this last post seems ridiculous, please disregard it. Thank you. ;)

The best jokes for April doesn't belong to the 1st.

And you will see, tomorow you will read things...
You will believe they are jokes for April the 1st, but they aren't!
The world is mad and stupidious enough for making nonsense to become real .

And another important thing...
Dear Aliens, please if your landfall will start soon, remind yourself of this special date.
You have the chance to say, hey it was a fake.
But if you want to conquer our world, wait until the 3rd. (That's better, because of the different planetary time zones)
Thank you.

And I was going to pull a day-early-for-the-US one in which I managed to "stumble" across filming for the Pastel Defender straight-to-DVD craptacular wincefest... up to and including Dramatically Wrong Miscasting and rewrites upon rewrites until the produced version only resembles the original on the surface only.

I was certain I'd get some foam over the scene where Heliotrope summons Jesus to turn Fuchsia into a boy so they could "love each other properly". Sigh.

Oh well.

 Religious Scavenger Hunt, anyone?
One team hides their Messiah somewhere, and you have to find him by following their bizarre and cryptic clues.
But don't take too long though - you've only got 'til Armageddon to do it!
All winners ascend to Heaven, while the losers spend the next seven years in the "Second Chance Draw"...
Repeat until Judgement Day. :?

Seriously, though, any religion that expects you to "find" their figurehead makes me wonder what they did to "lose" them in the first place. :doubtful:

In the same vein, I always wondered about people who were "Born Again". I mean, if they weren't born right the first time, couldn't they just sue their obstetrician?

The juxtaposition of disproportionate violence, deranged overlords, and Legos reminds me of this.
