Don't open the door, the cat will run out!
(dogs would never do this, isn't it?)

Hey, not true!
I once had to chase my housemate's little dog halfway across town, then halfway back, after she slipped through the front door. That dog had a wanderlust she couldn't satisfy, and even though she knew she would get into trouble she still ran away every chance she got.
Now they take her for walks more regularly, and so she doesn't escape so often.

Long ago we had a dog, a dalmatian. loooooong before we had cats.
It was night, ahm more an early morning, I was coming home, and I was tired tired tired, I opened the door, Dog Todo jumped out, happy waging his tail and disapeared into the darkness. Damn = Verdammt nochmal!
He was running up the little street we're living, sniffed all around, made his business matters and did run further, stopped, looked at me if I would follow, argh I did, running further...
I had luck, 30 minutes later he had done what dog must has done and I was sooo tired ...
