Forum Roll-Call (Cambot! Gypsy! Tom Servo! Laaaawwwwwspite!)

Postby Mitsukara » Sun Nov 13, 2011 2:47 am

Hello, everyone out there! I am writing because I have been laying rather low around these parts (and in general in a lot of areas of my life), and because I am kind of curious to see: just how many people are around these days?

The UJ forums have a long history, I'm sure, and over the course of all the work Jennifer has done- especially Unicorn Jelly, Pastel Defender Heliotrope, and To Save Her- I know there have been a lot of comings and goings.

I think one thing that makes the forums seem like more of a ghost town than they actually are is that some of us have actually taken to talking with each other over AIM so much that we sometimes slip away from the idea of actually posting (in particular I can think of a group of at least 6 members, myself included, who tend to talk that way more often than by posting). While this means that such relationships are more live and personal between us, it unfortunately makes the forums much quieter!

I guess something that I want to point out and make clear is that we didn't all just disappear, or lose interest. I know I personally think of Jennifer and her works fairly often, as they have added a lot of joy, wonder, and thoughtfulness to my life. I hope one day to be as cool, though I am surely not there yet, not by a long shot.

Anyway, since I know we can all be kind of a quiet lot for our own reasons (myself especially as of late), or caught up in other things, or just not know what to talk about at any given time.

Here is my suggestion: if you are still around, post a reply in this thread.

It doesn't have to be anything special, and it's up to you of course, but I think poking your head in could help make things feel a bit less ghost townish. Just a little post to say "Hi, I still like to look around now and then, and I'm interested in this place."

That said, it's important to note that there may be people who browse but don't look at this thread, so I wouldn't regard it as a proper head count. Mostly I am hoping to generate some sort of response from a bunch of different people just to help make the place seem a little more alive.

Because, in my opinion, this is and always has been an awesome forum (before and after it's regeneration), built around wonderful epic stories. The sense of respect for individual diversity, open-minded scientific analysis, and thoughtful, polite supportiveness that is so key to both the Unicorn Jelly comic and it's community is a thing that I will always appreciate and respect.

So, if you are interested in doing so, please salute or say hi or sumii paivaa or whatever suits your fancy!

I'm still around. Kind of erratic in having anything to contribute, and mostly talk to Coda over IM.

Been a little worse lately due to a combination of work, dealing with having way more friends than before, both of those factors causing me to fall down hard wrt NaNoWriMo. (Among other things, it appears to be mutating into a setting reference.)

Still around. I poke my head in every now and then to see if things are getting more lovely here or there's been any kind of forum revival. It's been a while since they were jumping, but I remember enough good conversation here that I always hope maybe something has started up here that would kick start them again. ^^

I flit in now and then. Sometimes I accidentally click the bookmark button that leads to the forums, and feel compelled to check each thread with new posts so I won't lose my place (leaving the forums for more than about half an hour without loading a new page seems to be what resets the list of new posts).

Sometimes, regrettably, this occurs late in the evening when I would rather be in bed soon, and so I end up rather rushed. (This happened tonight. T_T)

I'm lurking around, mostly in the My Little Pony thread. Chat boards, I find, are a lousy place for a conversation. It's more a group of people talking at one another than talking with one another. So I tend to remain quiet.

I'm here, occasionally nixing spam. Don't have much to say though. Also Mitsukara is just 10 feet from me most of the time, so there IS that.

Good all around people here though. I miss the glory days. >.<

I check in periodically, but I'm constantly stymied by "database busy" errors, so I just log back out again. Also, spending most of my time hopped-up on Vicodin for my back injury tends to make me less of a conversationalist.

I lurk in every few days now.

I've been completely burned out like a stellar remnant for well over a year now, but since ponies stole my soul, I've been feeling better.

I peek in here, from time to time, but I often don't have a lot to say.

Unless, of course, it's something about ponies.

That stole my soul.

Mmmmnn. Filet of soul.

Oh! Hey! I've not been by in a while, but I am still very much alive and interested in what's going on around here. I hope all the other posters are well! :D (and not letting Christmas preparations get the better of them)

As for what I've been up to... I've been distracted by all the shenanigans at MSPaintAdventures.com (my god we broke Newgrounds!!!) and considering taking on a new non-retail-related career, but buggered if I know what else to do. :(
If this last post seems ridiculous, please disregard it. Thank you. ;)

I still check in to see what's going on, although I don't post much. I chatter with a lot of people from the forum outside of the boards, so that's probably why I don't pop in as much.
