Monospambot: MagicOPromotion

Postby Monocheres » Thu Apr 30, 2009 6:22 am

It was only one post, but it looked like spam and stank like spam, so I goomphed it. Still, the grammar and logic of this was so outrageously atrocious as to be an art-form in itself, so I preserve it here for your amusement:

MagicOPromotion wrote:Huh!! I want to download software pack XRUMER 5.0 PALLADIUM for FREE. Have you any url?
I'm so need this magic program! It's can break captchas automatically! Activate accounts via email automatically too! Absolutely great software! Help me!
And did you hear news - price for XRumer 5.0 Palladium will grow up to $540 after 15 may 2009... And XRumer 2.9 and 3.0 - too old versions, it's cant break modern catpchas and cant break modern anti-bot protections. But XRumer 5.0 Palladium CAN!!!!
So help me for download this great soft for free! Thanks!

At least ... I think it was spam ...

My english is limited.
But I do understand it as spam, cloaked, but spam.
Maybe he comes from the region "England" in Russia or China.
But why doesn't this guy google around to find his desired url?
Or do use other search engines?

And, to join in a forum and begging for help is ok, but it should has something to do with the forum here.
For example: "Jenny, please, I'm TS and need help.!"
"Jenny, please, I want to make online comics and need advice!"
That's a call for help.

Software which hasn't to do with anything here...
Baaah!

I dunno... I saw the post when it first appeared, and was unsure. It looked for all the world like someone with a poor grasp of the English language trying to find help to get spambot software.

Wow, you're right! I was starting to feel guilty for following my gut, perhaps excising him too precipitously . In future I do resolve to investigate a little further before hitting the ban button. But this time, at least, I see my intuition was correct, if imprecise: He wasn't a spambot per se, he was a spambot-monger!

Kind of like having Sauron himself pay a visit, instead of a horde of Uruk-Hai.

I don't feel sorry
Even with a bad english, it is possible to explain what goes on in me.
And with this forum name, MagicOpromotion, -, there is a "bad taste".

And searching help against spambots, there must be more specific forums outside in the web.
And again, google on, the best help you can get.

If you want to be a friend, then come back.

The same fellow, the very same, showed up on the Octagon.

It's... very strange that the person would come to forums like UJ and the Octagon for help with managing spam bots. We're the kind of people who are most interested (and in the case of the software nerds here, the most effective) in stomping irritating little nuances like him away.

I've just spotted this one - Triaraenfolla who has joined up but not posted anything yet. Note the fields "Occupation" and "Interests". My spammy-senses are tingling...
If this last post seems ridiculous, please disregard it. Thank you. ;)

By the way I made two level packs for Boppin' in case anyone is interested...
