I can't get this taste out of my mouth...

...I think it's the lawn.

So after procrastinating for many moons, I finally get started reading Jenny's Conversion Bureau stories, getting the notion of loading them into Google Drive to read on the bus to and from work on my 3DS (the browser simply cannot handle fimfiction.net's image and script bulk).

Beautiful. Wonderful. I go to make some comments... and I begin to notice things. Ugly things. Last blog post a month ago. Jenny, I had no idea you had been chased off fimfiction by trolls, and it both saddens me and gives me a morbid half-smile at the irony of such people essentially proving the negative views on humanity that are right in your stories!!

So far I've finished 27 Ounces and am in chapter 24 of The Taste of Grass. And I have to say...

CadanceDAMMIT!!* You were talking about lying down in a cloud bed and I SWEAR you put images of horse penis into my brain!! :rofl:

But seriously, this is one of the best, most epic pieces of fanfiction I've ever read, and I wholeheartedly support efforts on your part mentioned elsewhere in these forums to sever ties with Hasbro property and make the universe wholly your own.

The group-survival story of The Taste of Grass reminds me very strongly of Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, though the pastoral landscape reminds me more of a game of Minecraft. Alpha Centauri is more appropriate though, given that they are dropped on an alien world with loads of supplies that they only unlock after they've already put forth a great deal of effort and development. And the discoveries of each pony tribe's unique magical abilities, from splashing pegasi** to their first rock farm... mmmm tasty tasty world-building.

I don't know if it'll get me returning here more often to discuss it... but with you off fimfiction, it very well may. I've got a lot of catching up to do, and that commute is short enough that it'll take a long while...

*The way I figure it, if the names of alicorn princesses are used in place of deities for blasphemous expletive, Celestia would be appropriate for general daytime profanity, while Luna's name would be reserved for nocturnal oaths... and Cadance's name would be used in vain for situations dealing more with romance and/or mating. (And as of the end of season 3, Twilight Sparkle might end up being invoked in casual colorful metaphors among friends.)

** Also, your spelling of the plural of pegasus as "pegasai" is slightly jarring to me; I've never seen it spelled that way. Ah well, at least it's better than Chancellor Puddinghead's "pegasuseseses." :mrgreen:

[P.S. Just read about Hopeful Road, and it reminded me of how, in Dwarf Fortress, the way for your colony to attract caravans is to run a paved road all the way out to the edge of the map--if properly built, it will automatically continue into the world map forever.]

[P.P.S. Aaaand with the arrival of the Royal Unicorn Corps, I'm reminded of Tunnel in the Sky.]

[P.P.P.S. Took a trip to Wikipedia to get the title of "Euphrosyne Unchained". I love mythological references like that. =^_^=]

There's more Conversion Bureau stories in typewritten form?! <3

*Happy* *Will run off to look after work* ;)

It's something of a mystery to me as to why Jennifer attracts nasty trolls--- other than the being-super-progressive thing. Even on a website for fanfiction about ponies who think friendship is the greatest thing ever. -__-;

Ah, well. Her fans, at least, get ahold of it. :3

Yeah, I don't get it either, where all of the animosity comes from. I know someone else that's a webcomic artist that's attracted the unwelcome attention of a LOT of trolls, and she's the nicest person you could ever meet. The only thing I can think of is that these trolls are attracted to 'soft' targets, easy to troll.

Hnnghnngh.
