Another joke, in the same vein.

Rumor has it, the ferryman at the dead river loves garlic.

Laurels in your soup enhances its aroma.

Coming to this thread late ...

Well, I'm not a Furry, I'm just another one of those straight white dudes. (Eek!) And so is my avatar. But I bet my avatar could take on all you furries single-handed! With a wry wink. Probably juggle you...

Oh, and as it happens, my avatar is also a ferryman. Just not that river. (Well, maybe allegorically...)

P.S. Loved the Orestes gag! In ancient times, it was considered bad luck to refer to the Furies (Erinyes) by that name. (They might hear you, take offense, and pay you a visit.) So a euphemism would often be used instead: the Kindly Ladies (Eumenides). In that spirit, I think my ancient ancestors would have greatly appreciated the idea of depicting those, um, Kindly Ladies as warm, fuzzy, and cuddly. Oh yeah!

The Erinyes are WONDERFUL ladies. They make the best cup of tea and always seem to have a job for a bored harpy or two. *fluffs* Oh, and Megaera has the most stunning earrings made from the bronzed testicles of a notorious adulterer.

On the same note, speaking of lovely ladies... Although they're absolute dolls, dinner at a Gorgon's house? Skeeyuck. The food's always hard as a rock.

Although I must say Medusa's portico does boast the finest collection of marble statuary west of the Dardanelles. So lifelike, so evocative. The expressions of shock and fear are quite exquisitely captured.

On the other hand have you been in her powder room? Not a mirror in sight! What's up with that?

Still, I hear she's developed a booming business for her line of detangling shampoos and conditioners...
