My parents aren't exactly normal, they're just not the weird kind of different.

They don't keep photo archives either, so there's nothing to look through.

What, not even a photo album? How sad... and strangely suspicious.
Maybe you should visit your grandfolks or extended family; surely there must be some lost treasures from the 70s for you to discover.

There is a huge pile of photos at my mother's house, spanning fifty years or so. We used to look through them as kids and marvel at how strange our parents looked when they were our age. The idea that they too were once school kids - or awkward teenagers! - seemed hilariously unlikely at the time, but it's a good thing to see how they must have looked when they were younger. It makes you appreciate where you've come from, and how much you are (and, mercifully, aren't) like your old folks.

It makes me wonder if we would have been friends, if I'd somehow been around at that time.

There's a few old things, school photos and such, but not much. Not albums, by any rate. All my grandparents are dead.

There's hardly any photos of me growing up either, though my aunts and uncles may have a few in their albums. It's just my parents that don't do it. When I was a kid they took lots of photos that they never had developed, then they just stopped taking photos.

My mom was like that too. I think she still has a huge box of undeveloped rolls of film somewhere. She just kept procrastinating.

Luckily, digital photography came along before she gave up!

All my pictures got developed, just uhh... never put in one place.

Random cleaning provides the family with cute pictures every other week.

Ugh... my sister is/was really bad with pictures. She used to take lots of photos, but forget to get the films developed. Over the past five years, I've accumulated and developed

You should try getting some of the films printed, Relee and Ashes (when you get some $$$ of course ). Or get your folks to finally do something with them, even if they are really old. Film does go off after a few years, but a lot of the time you can get something worthwhile (if not entirely recognisable).
It's always a surprise when you get "mystery photos" back from the lab! "OMG... what were we thinking when we wore that?!?"

But yeah, pictures are an invaluable way of remembering the past. I'm glad I kept all of the filmstrips from my photography class; I just need to digitise them and print them out again.
