Posting Images from my Online Album

I've been having a little difficulty including self-made pictures from my online Picasa album.
This here:

should be a picture of Kaye as a pirate (a little something I offered for last year's Pirate Day, y'ken) - but it doesn't always seem to work. At least, it doesn't show up unless it's already in the browser cache.

If I use the direct link to the image, it will probably come up with the infamous 404 message. But if I go to the page in the album that hosts that picture, and then come back to this page with the Back button - hey! Suddenly thar she blows!

Has anyone else had this problem with posting images from Picasa (or any other online album)? Am I coding something wrong, or is it specific to the image host that I am using? Any suggestions on a better way of linking to my images that will actually work? Or perhaps a better online image server?
(The images seem to load within my Blogger blog, but that's expected 'cos they're both Google.)

This is actually an issue with Picasa; specifically, anti-hotlinking provisions. The reason it works once you've visited the page is that it's in your browser's cache. Many other hosts have similar problems, but Imagebin (for short-term images) or Imageshack tend to work pretty well.

Imageshack, works, but since a year I have problem to use their code properly, but however...
I'm German, I find ways for making ..., that the forum does obey....

Thanks for the input! I've suspected that it was a problem with the image host. Although signing up with another web service is annoying... it beats having to pay for it.

It appears Picasa have altered their setup; they now have the option to link directly to an image. I wonder if it's changed anything...

Ha ha ha! I only used the headscarf because I couldn't draw a three-corner hat properly. I don't (yet) have a tablet, you see... and that was the best I came up with using my primitive tools (without hand-drawing and scanning).
Do you reckon she'd look better if I had her doing gang symbols? How about forming the word BOOGS?

On June 12, 2011, the server graciously updated the version of php running on the server. As as result, the connection to the database as used by the Unicorn Jelly Forums was broken. Took me forever to find the problem. In the end, I had to remove a single character from the end of a string.
